American Singer Demi Lovato’s mother, Dianna De La Garza revealed about Lovato’s recovery till 90 days after an apparent drug overdose which nearly took her life.
In the latest episode of the Conversations with Maria Menounos podcast, Dianna opened about Demi’s 90 days sobriety. She said to the host, “She has 90 days and I couldn’t be more thankful or more proud of her, because addiction, being a disease, it is work. It’s very hard, it’s not easy, and there are no shortcuts.”
When the host asked her about her reason of the relapse, she said, she couldn’t ‘really say for sure’. She said, “I really don’t know.”
She continues, “It can be any number of reasons. We lost five close members of our family in one year while I was writing the book, my grandfather, my grandmother, two uncles. We lost five people just in a span of a few months. My grandmother and my grandfather were older and they were in a nursing home, but my uncles, that was kind of a shock. And then I lost a grandmother on my father’s side and so even through all of that, losing all of those people, she didn’t relapse. So, it’s hard to say. You couldn’t say because we lost five people in our family that caused a relapse.”
She had also opened up about Lovato’s medical condition last month.
She recalled the day, “So, I was in shock. I didn’t know what to say. It was just something that I never, ever expected to hear, as a parent, about any of my kids.”
She continued, “From that point on, I never allowed myself to ever think that things weren’t going to be OK. I prayed, of course, all the way to the hospital, and my faith is strong. I think that was one of the things that got me through the next couple of days when she was in critical condition. We just didn’t know for two days if she was going to make it or not.”
