What Is Met Gala? Why Do Celebrities Gather There?

Met Gala is actually nothing but just a Costume Benefit Institute which has been known as Met Gala or Met Ball. Gala means festival celebrated in any event with it. And so is this Met Gala. This is a fundraising gala to serve the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. This event has been operated successfully (Except 2020) since 1973.

Why was the 2020th Met Gala cancelled?

Gala in 2020 was managed to be conducted on 4 May 2020. It was planned that high profile celebrities such as Anna Wintour, Meryl Streep, Emma Stone, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Nicolas Ghesquiere, etc would come to the event with Louis Vuitton as its sponsor. But it was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

About Met Gala-2021

It was recently held on 13 September 2021 with the theme “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion”. Timothée Chalamet, Billie Eilish, Amanda Gorman, and Naomi Osaka were the co-chairs for the year whereas Tom Ford, Adam Mosseri, and Anna Wintour were welcomed to the honorary chairs. Likewise, this year Justin Bieber was the headline performer with Instagram as the sponsor of the event.
