Oscars’ stage gets heated after Will Smith slapped Chris Rock

Comedian Chris Rock and Will Smith are now in controversy after the one joke that made Will laugh and offended at the same time. In Sunday’s meeting for Oscar Awards, Chris Rock, a very prominent comedian was joking about a lot of things including Will’s wife’s hair fall.

Though many other comedians have done these types of jokes on stages like that, this was different as Will Smith laughed and later slapped him. He compared Jada Smith‘s almost-bald hair with G.I. Jane (1997).

The viewers are in a strong dilemma as the picture is unusual. Someone laughing and getting offended for the same joke is not possible and also the slap seemed a lot like a scripted one. Some suggest that “had Smith really slapped him, Rock could have shown reaction to it, at least could have rubbed his cheeks but he didn’t”.

After slapping Rock, Will returned to the same seat where he was first sitting and screamed “Keep my Wife’s name out of your fu**ing mouth” not once, not twice but a lot of times. The celebrities gathered in the gala themselves were confused as the images show how they had been laughing until Will screamed. After Will’s scream, the crowd wooed and stopped laughing to have an awkward silence in the Dolby Theatre.

Rock didn’t say anything more to escalate the scene there. He just said “Will just smacked the sh*t out of me” and still the crowd was laughing. And at the post-meet interviews outside the Dolby Theatre, no one talked about it and acted normally. All of them didn’t even bother to say “it was unusual”.
