Sunil Chhetri gets back into the race of Top International Goal Scorer. Can he get Messi behind him?

After a dominating game against Nepal in the final of the SAFF Championship-2021, India now has the 8th SAFF winning record. But individually with players, Sunil Chhetri was the man to look out for as he scored the first goal against Nepal which literally made him one of the leaders. He now has 80 goals in 125 appearances whereas we have Lionel Messi, the Argentine legend with 80 goals in 156 appearances. This fact surely has made Sunil a hero. Not only in the overall goals count, but he also won the award of most goals scoring player from the SAFF. He scored 5 goals altogether.

Amongst the active footballers, he is 35 goals shorter to be placed first with Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo. Talking about his game in the last match with Nepal, the first half was quite a disappointment as he wasn’t able to show much impact against the red but in the second half, he was on fire. As per his gameplays and all, the game analysts have expected him to score around 100 international goals till his retirement.
